Digital re-mastering is the process of making a new master for an album, movie, or any other recorded creation. It tends to refer to the process of porting a recording from an analogue medium such a vinyl to a digital one like CD, but this is not always the case. The process of creating a digital transfer of an analogue recording re-masters the material in the digital domain so that it can be worked on with a computer and printed to CD, with the aim of being able to distribute better quality and better sounding digital versions of the original analogue tracks.
